World Refugee Day 2025: Standing with Refugees in Malaysia

Every year on June 20th, World Refugee Day reminds us of the resilience, courage, and strength of refugees around the world. This year, as we mark World Refugee Day 2025, we focus on the silent struggles of refugees living in Malaysia—families forced to flee persecution, violence, and conflict, now trying to survive with dignity in a country where they have limited rights and support.

Why World Refugee Day Matters

There are over 185,000 refugees and asylum-seekers in Malaysia, many of whom cannot legally work or send their children to formal schools. Many live in cramped apartments, face discrimination, and struggle daily to afford food, rent, and medical care. Single mothers often carry the burden of providing for their children while living in fear of eviction or sickness.

World Refugee Day is not just about raising awareness. It is about taking action to support refugees where we are.

What RefugeeHelp.site Is Doing

At RefugeeHelp.site, we are a refugee-led initiative supporting refugees in Malaysia with:

Food and groceries for families in crisis
Rent assistance to prevent homelessness
Medical support for urgent treatment and medications
Document and interpretation help at hospitals and police stations
School fee and transport support for refugee children

Since 2018, we have been helping refugees who have nowhere else to turn, funded entirely by small donations from people who care.
